Ignition Indoor

The mad ravings of a rec level player watching the pros make it look easy. It's also a good source for unfounded rumors, Something like news and downright odd stuff about the Detroit Ignition.

Detroit Vs. Cailfornia Cougars

Hello everyone.

We're back at it again. Dinner is done and the ball has been kicked off. Roger and Al are in the booth. Beasely just tried a a squib in, but wide.

Calif draws the first penalty. Hewerton gets the goal! Great start with the assist to Richardino. Detroit up 2-0. Chile almost made another, pulling the keep WAY out. Time out. Time to run for a beer!

This is going to be rough for both teams. They have a game tomorrow night in Stockton CA. Simply put, that sucks. Flying either tonight or early tomorrow, and then playing tomorrow night. Al and Roger are talking about that right now. It sounds like the Cougars are pretty good at home, particualrly against the Ignition.

I see Danny Waltman is the cage for the Igniton tonight. Matt Johnson get his first penalty in a while, so Detorit will be a man short. Shorthanded goal! By Greenfield! Nice feed from Callahan brining up the ball shorthanded. Detrot leads 4-0.

California's PP continues. I think Sutton for Claif is wearing gloves. I'm not sure how cold it is, but it makes a most Cali of statements. Greenfield Scores! Two goals in the same shift. Detroit leads 6-0, and now Pele is selling us shoes.

Back at the game. Detroit is pressuring Cali deep in their zone. I thnk Waltman just dodged an own goal. Hewerton sends one wide! Two minute left mt assistant has informed me she;d like some food and perhaps a little catnip.

California has just turned it up and brought the game down to Waltman. Sampson broke free and almost got it in. Chile was open, but a step. Period ends and it was really the Greenfield quarter...

Eric (who works for the Igniton TV people) and his squeeze Nicole have a new baby! Congrats! Send us a picture and we'll post it...

Second Quarter begins...

Baltimore is leading Chicago 2-0 right now. Cali has had good possesion so far, and gotten a couple of shots in on Waltmann. Sampson got one his way. He tripped on the carpet and got a trip call for his troulbes. You never argue when one goes your way, even though you know the karmic truck is coming at you...

It's gotten back some more balance, and Detroit leads in the attack. Samspon got his leg lifted out of play and it was called. Ricardinho scores while Al is welcoming the Comcast West viewers. Good point from Al. We teach the kids to follow on the run. the ball may just find it's way out to you! Wish I had a tape. Detroit leads 8-0

Beasley gets hauled in and Scheer gets the two minutes of shame. Detroit PP . Detroitis working from the edge of the 3 point ring...California kills the penalty...and Santana gets a personal foul and he's staying out instead of getting a blue. The officals have him at three, so I guess that's it . Sampson gets a warning for too close and Cali restarts.

Cali scores! Farber gets in the long pass and gets it in on Waltmann's far side. Detroit's lead is 8-2. Ryan Hall booms one in from half court and Waltmann sends it straight up and out. Corner for Cali. Showing lots of shots of the girls and kids in the crowd (which is as it should be).

Serious stuff in front on Detroit's goal and California gets another in. Scheer gets it by Waltmann on the restart. Detroit is hanging on 8-4. Cali gets anothe restart right in the same spot as the last goal. Deflected out of play, and another corner coming up. The momentum is now all Cali, and Deroit is playing flat.

Detroit gets something back and threatens, and then is cleared. Detroit gets good shot on, and saved. Looks like Detroit wants to eat the clock. Whistle on Cali, restart deep for Detroit. Time out and get a set piece ready. Cali clears and gets down field. Chile faris runs over the ball and Farber sends one off the post! Halftime....

I think they need to improve the caterine for the media at the game. Al and Roger are going on about the food available, and the camera guys are zeroing in on the food. SOMEONE NEEDS TO GET MORE GOOD COOKIES IN THE PRESSBOX!

More crowd shots. Game on.

Detroit brings it on, blocked and Cali takes it back and Farber scores! Detroit's lead cut to 8-6 on a really cool play. (Well, it would be cool if WE did it.)

Penalty called on Djersilo, so Cali gets a PP. Beasley takes it down on a break, but it's stopped. Cali resets. Detroit has killed the penalty. And then Cali gets called and Detroit gets a PP.

Detroit has got one good shot in, then another, and Cali clears. Beasley connects and the score is now 10-6. Delima goes down with what looks like a knee problem. It looked ugly, but that may have just been the angle on the TV.

(Sorry to miss some stuff, but homework calls...)

Chile sends one in over the shoulder of Elfvin on the near side. Detroit is back up by 6, 12-6. Then I go get a snack and Beasley knocks in a 3 pointer to hit 100 points for the season. It sounds like it was an own goal, but the replay at the end of the quarter didn't show it. Detroit leads 15-6.

Jakubek has gotten a yellow and is mouthing off in the box, explaining how the universe is against him. Sutton got a nice shot in at the 3 pt. line, but it went wide.

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT

Beasley get keelhauled inside the box, casuing the first penaly, then Figeroua gets in it and wants to fight. Someone is saying Chile hit someone in the face (and I just noticed Faris eyebrows. They are something.) Detroit is getting a PP. But Apple is on the box for something. Marojevic squibs the ball over to Rife who doinks it in for two. Detroit leads 17-6.

Farber scores a bicycle kick! That was so cool! He gets a hat trick and makes it 17-8 Final score.

Ignition vs. Balitmore

Well, we're at it already.

While I'm sitting here waiting for the computer to boot, Droo scores in the first few seconds.

So, let's get caught up. Al and Roger in the box, we made pizzas tonight, her spouseness is off having fun. So it's time to sit down and watch the game.

Sanaldo is in yellow, and there's a time out. The Ignition is wearing green tonight.

Would John Waters be a soccer fan?

We're still at it, but I think my pizza has cooled enough to cut.
DROO DID IT AGAIN! 3 pointer!

Things have slowed down. Baltimore is fighting the midfield more and getting Detroit's rushes to break.

Apple just got a feed from Beasley and sent it into the back of the net!

Al and Roger are chatting away, and I think Roger loves Sampson's feet. (I think that's what he said...)

Cool- the green jerseys being worn tonight are going to be auctioned off...

Baltimore just scored. Milwwod put in a beaut. 7-2 Detroit. Halftime.

Great! One of the camps the Igs are having in right here in my town! Must save $$$ for the kids.

First playoff game 4/15. And it looks like the MISL championship game will be played in Detroit! On 4/21.

Al and Roger are chatting about the goodies avialable at the game. I only wish I'd had the cash to try them when we went.

Kit just got through the defense andChile gave him a perfect feed. Detroit is up 9-2.

Detroit seems to be running the show mostly. Baltimore isn't being manhandled, but they have had little momentum at all throughout the game, and particularly this quarter.

Welll, make me a liar. Baltimore scores a goal off a good screen. And while I'm getting a beer, they do it again. Detroit is now up 9-7

Fourth quarter...

Hewerton just sent in a pass from Chile. Detroit gets the momentum back. 11-7

Beasley knocks in a 3 pointer to cap the game. Baltimore has had its streak snapped. Detroit wins 14-7.

Asleep at the switch...

Couldn't find any coverage of today's loss to Chicago. So I"ll talk about something else.

VERNOR'S

Everyone gets a few rextra thing about their hometown they love beyond reason. Among mine are Vernor's and Coney's. You cosmopolitan types can have ginger ale and chili dogs, but both pale in comparison to the sacred mix of strong bubbly Vernor's and a real natural casing dog with great chili. While I only treat myself to them occasionally, I will go out of my way from time to time for them.

For the great unwashed, Vernor's is to ginger ale what nuclear weapon are to firecrackers. It is NOT in the same league. Most GA's are so effete and delicate, the ice in them destroys it. Vernor's can stand up to any food. (All BBQ goes better with Vernors.)

Coney's, the way Detroit makes 'em. Not to downplay all the great dogs of the world, I'd even pass the sublime well made Chicago dog for a fresh from the grill coney. (Or how about together....hmmmmmm....that has potential.)

Semi-Live

We are some time here in the 2nd quarter. Milwaukee just scored with about a minute thrity to go in the quarter. Detroit is leading 4-2 right now.

It is a little different to trying to picture everything mentally.

There's a player down, but can't figure out who.

Chile Faris is out with an injury. He's not on the posting on the Ignition website. The commentator said Hewerton is taking up the slack.

STOP TO PUBLISH

Thanks to WISN 1130 for the feed.

Sampson is having a great game. So far, one goal and one assist.

In other games, the Kixx are hosting the Cougars later Let's see if the MISLCAST. I see the Kixx and Detroit are now tied for the lead in the MISL.

VERSUS is going to be carrying some MISL games as well as the playoffs live. So I'd better add a link for the channel here before too long. http://www.versus.com/nw/article/view/31218/?UserDef=true&catID=76

Third Quarter begins.

Detroit starts the kick off. I hear Danny Waltmann played the first period between the pipes, but that Sanaldo is now back in. Detroit sounds like they are controlling the ball well.

The Sedgewicks have apparently added another bundle of joy to the household. CONGRATULATIONS!

Foul on Sampson. Free kick Wave. Shot blocked by Sanaldo. Detroit brings it up. Stuff happens.

GOAL by Apple! (I really should find a cool sound effect.) Detroit up 6-2. He put it in the upper corner.

(As an aside, the Mythbusters TV show is on behind me. It makes for some interesting listeneing ... "it's all about man inhumanity to man, in a pipe and rope sort of way").

The MISLCAST is handling stats for me. Didn't even know it was there until a few minutes ago.

(Also, did you know Nyquil and tortilla chips can make you see gnomes?)

Milwaukee us really working it for the last few moments. Sounds like the ref got in the way. Seliadopolous just got called for a foul. Hewerton get s a foul. Mil kick inside the 3 pt line. Goal Milwaukee. Chad Dumbrowski (no not Ohtobeea) can capitalize on the free kick. Detroit leads 6-4.

Ball into the stands with 5:29 to go in the period.

Game on

Detroit has free kick. Droo kicks

Not quite, knocked down.

Detroit GOAL! Kyt Seliadopolous puts one in that sounds pretty impressive. Detroit grows the lead 8-4.

Deroit gets a powerplay. Tijani Ayegbusi commits a sin of some sort. There'll be four seconds left in the quarter when the penalty expires. Milwaukee has four penalties so far.

Detroit powerplay squad out, Salles moves it around. Milwaukee is doing a good job. They hold off the PP and end the quarter. They haven't let the Ignition have a PP goal so far.

I do have to say that listening to the other sides' home broadcast is pretty cool. There just aren't any Piggly Wiggly's around here, and the ads for the oil change places and massage parlors are something rather different.

Hewerton makes a bicycle attempt, but it's saved. Is Detroit going to shift to a "don't lose" set-up.

12 and change to go.

Free kick Milwaukee, bounces about into the stands. Sanaldo sends it out.

Milwaukee scores! Howes scores and closes back in 8-6. This one is staying a real game.

Beasley called for a handball.

Hewetron Scores! Feed from Sanaldo goes the distance and catches Vorberg off balance. Hewerton knocks it in. Detroit back up by 4, 10-6. And Sanaldo get sthe assist, and Will is bouncing like a silly guy. Foul called on Sedgewick for misconduct, and another on Salles. Confusion is reigning. Four fouls on Salles? MISLCAST shows "fouls", but only one this half. This call is WRONG!!!!!!

Milwaukee is getting a PP. Detroit has killed half the PP.

Howes brings in the ball. Working the outer edge on the point. Sanaldo save. Shot deflections off the post!

Salles out of the box. Both teams full strength. 7:30ish to go. The Salles call needs review.

Under 7 left. When is Milwaukee going to pull the keep?

Trip called on Dombrowski, bringing Callahan down. Detroit gets a PP. Wave had killed four PP's. Vorberg makes a saves from Richardinho. Detroit brings it back. Marojevic sends in a 3pt, too high. 4:30 to go in the game. Milwaukee has managed to kill 5 Detroit PP's . And a serious drive by the Wave goes wide.

Vorberg stays in, but Ackah has the sixth attacker jersey on. Beasley fouls Howes. Milwaukee gets a PP. Not a great move. Is it enough? And they are using the sixth attacker. Six on four in favor of Mil.

Greenfield dumps it deep. Super PP has a minute left. Howes shoots, Callahan deflects into the crowd. Milwaukee gets a re-start at the top of the arch. Wave is settng up....

Free kick, Howes sends one too high. Ackah brings it back. Hewerton clears. Maher scores for Milwaukee. 10-8 with a minute and change to go.

Vorberg is in and out. Rife clears to midfield. Minute to go. Milwaukee shoots wide. Beasley hauled down. Johonson clears from in front of the goal. Greenfield hauls down Leite after tripper over Ackah, and Beasley drops in a 3 pointer. The announcer is livid that Greenfield didn't get called for assisting gravity. DETROIT WINS 13-8! (and I got my update in before the Ignition website, nyah nyah nyah)

Detroit is now leading the MISL over Baltimore. If Philly wins against Cali, they will be tied behind the Ignition.

Kid's Corner: there is no Kids' Corner today, as Will is being a silly goose and doesn't want to write anything.

Sorry...

...But no coverage. No coverage on cable, none I could find on the web or on radio.

So instead I'll plug in some Monty Python:

Pratt... back to Pratt... Pratt again... a long ball out to Pratt... and now Pratt is on the ball, a neat little flick back inside to Pratt, who takes it nicely and sends it through on the far side to Pratt, Pratt with it but passes instead to Pratt, Pratt again, oh and well intercepted by the swarthy little number nine, Concito ' Maracon. This twenty-one-year-old half back, remarkably stocky for 6' 3", square shouldered, balding giant, hair flowing in the wind, bright eyed, pert, young for his age but oh so old in so many ways. For a thirty-nine.year-old you wouldn't expect such speed. Normally considered slow, he's incredibly fast as he wanders aimlessly around, sweeping up and taking the defence to the cleaners. Who would have thought, though many expected it, that this remarkable forty-five-year-old, 9' 4" dwarf of a man, who is still only seventeen in some parts of the world, would ever really be ... Oh and there was a goal there apparently ... and now it's Pratt ... back to Pratt... Pratt again... a long ball to Pratt... (crackle)

Tune in tomorrow for smei-live coverage of the game in Milwaukee
